Ben Rathbun

Ben’s first day in the agency was at age seven. Now at the helm of his families third-generation independent insurance agency, insurance and community are in his blood. 

 

His insurance journey at Rathbun Insurance “officially” began in 2014, following his graduation from Michigan State University with a degree in finance. A subsequent Master’s in Business Administration in Risk Management & Insurance from Olivet College along with a slew of industry designations added depth to his expertise.

 

Ben took over as Chief Executive Officer of Rathbun Insurance after his father’s sudden passing in 2021. He leads a team of outstanding insurance professionals under the vision “Being There Matters Most.”

Beyond the office, Ben ardently champions community service. He serves on the boards of Ele’s Place - Capital Region and Insuring MI Future.

 

Ben is active with the Rotary Club of Lansing and the Michigan Chapter of the National African American Insurance Association. Championing opportunities for tomorrow's generation of diverse insurance leaders, he participates in several mentorship programs and is a frequent speaker in high school and college classrooms.

In Lansing, Ben's roots are firmly planted. As the founder of the For Good Foundation, he weaves a thread of service into the legacy of his family's business. A lifelong Lansing native, he finds solace in the melodies of his baby grand piano and treasures quiet moments with his wife, Lillian. Ben's story unfolds not just in boardrooms but in the everyday tapestry of life, carrying forward the legacy of those who paved the way.
